California's Coastal Lighthouses

Updated: Oct 9, 2020

Lighthouses have captivated many an imagination, and have provided photographers with an endless array of captures. Seeing a lighthouse illuminated against the backdrop of a stunning sunset makes it almost impossible to not feel your soul stir.

The lighthouses of Northern California begin at Point Bonita Light just south of San Francisco, and extend to the northernmost St. George Reef Light near the Oregon border. Each lighthouse is unique in design and character and have their own rich histories and secrets. What will you discover when you visit one of these extraordinary beacons of light?

As of 2/23/20, I have only visited 4 of the 12 NorCal lighthouses, though I intend to visit and photograph them all. Will update this blog periodically until I have visited all of them.
